The new year is here! I truly hope you are not complacent in your life with your job, relationship, social life, health, etc; every minute of the day is an opportunity to get better – just think big and set unimaginable goals, “why not you”? The 2020 job market is the year most talked about in the job/career market: 20 million new jobs are becoming available on top of 30 million jobs…..sounds weird but on top of the new jobs, this is the year of retirees calling it quits! Hence the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimating a 14% annual rate growth (crushing the historic 6% growth over the past years).
The interesting part of it that you should get excited about is the majority of fast-growing occupations in this time don’t require a formal college degree. The new wave I have experienced is obtaining training/obtaining a certificate in a field-sector-or-industry to begin making money. A college degree is always great to have and I don’t take away from its merit but this provides an opportunity for non-degree holders to make bank and degree holders to switch job fields without having to go back to college. To name a few occupations that do not require a formal college degree:
Air Traffic Controllers, Radiation Therapist, Elevator Installers and Repairers, Nuclear Reactor Operators, Fabrication Workers, Detectives and Criminal Investigators (including contract security officers or facility security officers), Power Distribution Workers and Dispatchers, Dental Hygienists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, First line Supervisors of non-retail Sales Workers, Agricultural Operators, Gaming Managers, Transportation Inspectors, Subway and Streetcar Operators, Web Developers, IT Technicians, Tons of Network Administrator/IT related positions, Petroleum Field Operators, Claims Adjusters/Examiners, Computer Help Desk Support, Purchasing Agents, Real Estate Broker
