I don’t believe anything can take away from the commitment and hard work necessary to secure a college degree on all level. But… there are jobs you can get without a college degree that pay pretty well. From experience, unfortunately – I know individuals with a Master Degree that make $35,000 per year; still trying to gain experience. The education level corresponds with experience in the majority of fields. For example: a master degree candidate should have a salary of $78,000 annually but lack the required 7-10 years’ work experience to secure such a position.

Jobs include: Media or Communication Equipment Worker. Power Plant Operator. Elevator Installers and Repairers. Laboratory Testing Technician. Powerhouse/Relay Electrical Repairer. Detectives and Criminal Investigators. Power Distributors and Dispatchers. First Line Supervisors. Management Trainee Program Jobs. Nuclear Power Plant Operator and Transportation, Storage, and Distribution Managers.

The above are jobs that offer on-the-job training. The advantage of on-the-job training is that you are able to ask questions and get to know exactly what the expectations are. If you are considering career change, consider this: do you feel blocked? (if you do – you cannot grow), do you have a “reputation” co-workers cannot get over? (a part of a bad project or started on a lower level position so you get no respect in the higher position), do you work for a company you do not support? (you may not believe in their products/services or the work culture), do you take your job home and do not get compensated for it? All these may be signs that you need to get a fresh start or try something new/different. The job market can be intimidating but if you have a ready resume, you can fish for a new career anytime!
